TCS Acquires Coastal Cloud for $700M to Bolster Salesforce, AI Capabilities

December 11, 2025 - Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced the acquisition of U.S.-based Salesforce Summit Partner Coastal Cloud in an all-cash deal worth $700 million, aimed at enhancing its global reach and AI-driven service offerings.

The acquisition strengthens TCS’ position in the Salesforce ecosystem and expands its U.S. client base. This move follows the company’s recent purchase of ListEngage, another American Salesforce partner, just two months ago.

“Coastal Cloud’s multi-cloud capabilities strongly complement TCS’ existing Salesforce strength—and together with ListEngage’s expertise—we are poised to build a world-class Salesforce practice to deliver full-stack, custom solutions globally,” said Vikram Karakoti, Global Head of Enterprise Solutions at TCS, in a statement.

Karakoti emphasized that the two acquisitions significantly broaden TCS’ geographic footprint, deepen industry-specific capabilities, and expand its skilled talent base.

With both Coastal Cloud and ListEngage under its umbrella, TCS said it is now positioned to be "among top five Salesforce advisory and consulting firm, globally."

Deal Adds 400+ Cloud Experts to TCS

The definitive agreement, signed this week, gives TCS a 100% stake in Coastal Cloud, headquartered in Palm Coast, Florida. The deal is expected to close in 2026.

Founded in 2012, Coastal Cloud is recognized as a Salesforce Summit Partner with a strong focus on enterprise digital transformations. The company is led by former Salesforce executive Eric Berridge, who serves as CEO.

TCS noted that the acquisition will enhance its global Salesforce advisory and consulting services, supported by Coastal Cloud’s team of over 400 cloud professionals. These experts collectively hold more than 3,000 multi-cloud certifications.

“By adding over 400 cloud specialists with deep industry expertise to TCS bench, we are strengthening our advisory and business consulting capabilities and enhancing our AI and data offerings,” said Aarthi Subramanian, Chief Operating Officer at TCS.

Coastal Cloud specializes in AI-led advisory and business consulting services and is also a Snowflake Premier Partner. TCS is expected to benefit from access to Coastal’s enterprise and mid-market clientele. The company did not issue additional comments on the transaction at press time.

      Continued Focus on Strategic M&A

TCS affirmed its ongoing commitment to expanding its U.S. footprint through strategic acquisitions like Coastal Cloud and ListEngage.

“TCS will continue to pursue the M&A agenda aligned with its core priorities in AI, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Digital Engineering and Enterprise Solutions,” the company stated in a release.

The move is part of TCS’ broader strategy to lead in next-generation enterprise solutions while scaling up its capabilities in high-growth areas.

TCS Hit with Legal Setback as US Appeals Court Upholds $194 Million Damages in DXC Case

November 23, 2025 - Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has encountered a significant legal blow in its ongoing dispute with DXC Technology, as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit upheld a Texas District Court’s order requiring the company to pay substantial damages.

In a regulatory disclosure dated November 22, TCS confirmed that the appellate court maintained the financial penalties imposed by the lower court, while reversing a prior injunction. That portion of the case will now return to the Texas District Court for reconsideration.

The legal conflict traces back to 2019, when Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC)—which later merged with DXC Technology—accused TCS of misappropriating its proprietary insurance software. CSC claimed that TCS obtained unauthorized access through former Transamerica employees who had joined TCS following a $2-billion outsourcing agreement. This allegedly helped TCS build a rival insurance platform.

According to earlier filings, the Texas District Court in June 2024 ordered TCS to pay $194.2 million in total damages, including $56.15 million in compensatory damages, $112.30 million in exemplary damages, and $25.77 million in prejudgment interest.

Following the latest court decision, TCS stated it is reviewing its legal options, including potential appeals or review petitions. The company reiterated its intent to “vigorously defend its position” and assured it would make necessary financial provisions in accordance with accounting standards.

In parallel, TCS is facing scrutiny from domestic regulators. The Labour Commissioner’s Office in Pune recently summoned the company over allegations by the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) regarding illegal layoffs tied to plans to reduce its global headcount by around two percent. A hearing on the matter took place on November 18.

NITES alleged via social media platform X that the summons pertains to “illegal termination of employment and unlawful layoffs,” adding to the growing legal and regulatory challenges confronting India’s largest IT services firm.
