HPE Finalizes $14 Billion Juniper Networks Acquisition, Doubling Networking Business and Challenging Cisco, Nvidia

July 3, 2025 - Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has completed its $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks, marking a major milestone in the networking industry. This move doubles HPE’s networking revenue and positions the company as a direct competitor to Cisco and Nvidia in AI-driven data centers.

Juniper Ceases Trading as HPE Expands Networking Portfolio

The all-cash deal, announced in January 2024 and valued at $40 per share, officially closed on July 2 after clearing a legal challenge from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). To address antitrust concerns, HPE agreed to divest its Instant On wireless networking business and license Juniper’s Mist AIOps platform source code.

Juniper’s stock (JNPR) ceased trading on the NYSE, and its operations are now fully integrated into HPE. Rami Rahim, former CEO of Juniper, will lead the newly combined HPE Networking division, which now includes Juniper’s legacy products and HPE’s Aruba portfolio. Networking now accounts for over 50% of HPE’s operating income.

A Direct Challenge to Cisco and Nvidia

This acquisition strengthens HPE’s position in enterprise networking and AI-native data center solutions. The unified platform now covers a full IP stack, including silicon, hardware, security, software, and services, tailored for AI-driven workloads and large-scale deployments.

CEO Antonio Neri described the deal as pivotal: “Today begins a new era for HPE. We are now at the epicenter of the transformation of IT, where AI and networking are converging.”

      Customer Benefits and Industry Impact

      The merger offers enterprise customers:

AI-Native Networking: A secure, modern architecture for AI workloads.

Accelerated Innovation: Faster product rollouts across edge, data center, and campus networks.

Broader Reach: Juniper’s customers gain access to HPE’s global distribution network.

HPE projects the deal will be accretive to non-GAAP earnings per share and free cash flow within the first year. Investor confidence surged, with HPE shares rising 14% after the DOJ settlement.

      Juniper’s Product Roadmap

Juniper’s Mist platform and product lines will continue under Rahim’s leadership. HPE plans to maintain and scale Juniper’s innovations alongside Aruba offerings, ensuring ongoing support for existing customers.

A Bold Bet on AI-Driven Networking

The acquisition positions HPE to capitalize on multibillion-dollar opportunities in cloud, edge computing, and AI infrastructure. By owning the intelligent network layer, HPE aims to drive enterprise transformation over the next decade.
